In the course of power line documentation, high-voltage power lines (mainly 110 kV, 220 kV and 380 kV), their alignements and pylons and sometimes the access routes are surveyed and sheduled. Clients for this are mostly pipe operators and energy supply enterprises who need a suitable documentation of their stock.
The survey is usually performed by means of tachymetric recordings in combination with RTK-GPS-surveys. Alignement maps are created from the recordings. In addition to the characteristic featues of the power line also contain the objects located along the the alignement within the protection area (up to 50m to the left and to the right of the pipe) as well as internal and cadastral information. Further results are length profiles of the pipes with a simplified plane maps and projection maps. These length profiles contain a representation of the current rope slack in dependence of the temperature and the evaluated original tensile strength of the tag line.
In the course of surveying pylons, certain details like isolators and so on are shown in a picture of the pylon. The describing part of the power line documentation includes an intersection list, wich contains all crossings with other lines, over- and undergrund, in tabular form and a list of properties wich shows the the basis for the definition of servitudes.
Frequently, airborne laser scanning (ALS) is used to quickly and easily register the terrain surface. For the purpose of referencing the scan recordings, control point measurements and the determination of the GPS-transformation parameters are required.
For planning and aligning of new power lines we make alignement studies, the flight for the purpose of orthophoto production, the preperation of submission documents for administrative procedures and control surveys during and after the execution of construction.
